The Rise Of Antisemitism In The Last Decade

Sarah Steadman

Antisemitism is a plague that has a place in every era of modern history. Through the Crusades, the Reformation, the Holocaust and countless other examples, it is clear to see how Jewish people have been subject to discrimination, persecution, exile and torture for millennia. Many believe that in the decades since the Holocaust, there has been significant progress in the elimination of Antisemitism around the world, however this is not the case. Whether it be due to religious beliefs, political differences, white supremacy or any other various reasons, antisemitism continues to rise in Europe, the Middle East, North America and around the world. This essay explores a history of antisemitism, causes and effects of antisemitism today and the ways those who wish to make a difference are attempting to do so. It is important to educate ourselves on these difficult topics to prevent more of the inhumane treatment Jewish people have had to face for thousands of years.
