COVID-19

Integrated Assignment

It can easily be said that COVID-19 has made the year 2020 unique. Schools have been shut down, trips have been cancelled, and some of the assignments have been altered. For the Global program, instead of completing ‘travel assignments,’ the class was asked to reflect on the pandemic in different ways. For Mr. Babcock’s class, the students were asked to reflect on COVID-19 and the world. They had to pick any region or person that has been successful at minimizing the effects of COVID-19. The class had to reflect on bias, fake news and logical fallacies in Mr. Torlée’s portion of the assignment. He required them to make a timeline of COVID-19 and then find examples in the media of the concepts studied in class. Mr. Toole asked for each student to interview their German exchange partner and an adult to gain some different perspectives on COVID-19. The class asked their interviewees what they anticipated and what their thoughts about COVID-19 were. The Globalites were then asked to reflect on the answers they were given and how their own thoughts compare to them. There were two choices for Ms. Parnell’s section of this assignment. The first choice was to play or sing a song that has a connection to COVID-19. She wanted the students to learn a song and record it. The other option was to view a livestream concert and provide information and an evaluation of the performance. It was an excellent opportunity to explore music during the pandemic.
