Factory Farming: Destroying our Society

Alex Blackmore

Personally, animals have always played a big role in my life. To me, animals are innocent, loyal, and provide us with happiness and reassurance. I am sure many can agree with this simple statement. The truth is, animals are not always treated with the respect and care that they deserve, especially in the factory farming industry. This paper will take a look at two major issues that I feel are connected. One, how the abuse of animals in factory farms is undeniably cruel and we as humans should not stand for such torture as civilized individuals. As well as two, this torture (as witnessed in factory farming) is not only affecting these animals but humanity along with the earth. To go into depth I will provide statistics and case studies to enlighten you on this serious issue that is continuously turning our world upside down without us even realizing it. I am not here to persuade you to go vegan or to even think about it because I am not in any way a vegan and absolutely love a slice of good bacon with my breakfast or a burger at the neighbourhood barbeque. Rather, I would like to open up your eyes to how we can make smarter choices when it comes to animal by-products. Factory farming is undoubtedly a serious issue and the only ones that can stop it is us. Welcome to my paper on factory farming and how it is unrightfully destroying our society.
