Human Trafficking for the Purpose of Commercial Sexual Exploitation

Quiana Richards-Jones

“What haunts me is that the prevalence of human trafficking, particularly the sex trafficking of underage girls and young women, means that I have almost definitely seen one of these individuals in my daily life. I’ve sat next to them on the bus, or ordered coffee right behind them. Were their eyes begging for my help, and I simply overlooked, did not notice?” (Shenita Etwaroo, 2018) Across the world, millions of people are being transported across borders and purchased like commodities for the purpose of sex trafficking. These victims are violated for the sole purpose of exploitation. The primary point of examination throughout the course of this paper is human trafficking with the intention of dealing in commercial sexual exploitation. This paper will concentrate on the political, economic and religious views of a nation and how this directly affects and relates to human trafficking.
