Favourite Global Memory:
My favourite memory of the entire Global experience is when our class along with our German partners went to Halloween Haunt at Canada’s Wonderland. Naturally we all split into different groups pretty early on, and I had lots of fun with the people I was with while going on the rides and walking through the haunted houses. Even though Torben, my German match, was unfortunately not with me because he wanted to be with his boys, it was still a great time and one of many great memories from the Global experience.
Unexpected Lessons Learned from Global:
I learned an unexpected sentimental lesson, a lesson of appreciation. For me, during the program I often thought of how much time was left. How much time left I had with my German exchange in Canada, or how much time was left in the program. When you’re enjoying yourself, you don’t want it to end. This taught me to appreciate the present with the time I have left while doing something, so that when it ends it won’t sting as much. Thank you Global for these lessons.
What Does Global Mean to You?
To me Global is an experience that emcompasses enlightening worldy education in a rewarding social environment. It is a program that allows me to take my education a step further and broaden my view of the world, and not all classrooms can offer that. Along with this, it means to meet great people and make strong bonds with them, whether it’s in the portable or the Germans that we got to meet. It is also a challenge, but it is a challenge that benefits me academically and in many other aspects.
Why did you Apply to Global?
I applied to Global because I knew the experience would be worth it. I was hesitant at times, but I always came back to the fact that the academic challenge would make me a better student and prepare me for what lies ahead. Not only that but the idea of learning more about the world in different dimensions was very appealing to me. I also applied because of the strong friendships formed in a program like Global, as well as the travelling.

Highly Worthwhile Experience
What did you enjoy most about online school?
I preferred normal school much more, but online school had its benefits too. I enjoyed the extra amount of sleep and the more relaxed setting to do work. This combination allowed me to put a lot of effort and time into the assignments, and so it was very rewarding when I finished and submitted them.

Habitat Loss and Destruction: The Robbery of the Natural World
The natural world and its habitats are of major importance to different species including humans, but it has and is not being protected or respected due to the fact that governments and corporations can profit from its resources. This ISU goes into detail on the issue of habitat loss that is occurring at an alarming rate globally. Rainforests and mangrove forests are only a few habitats highlighted in this research paper and the effect that is caused once they are removed or degraded. The repercussions caused by habitat loss are always emphasized and analyzed, so the significance of this issue can be understood. With this, the topic of biodiversity comes into play, and how much humanity relies on the services it provides. As a species, humans have already inflicted significant damage on habitats and nature, and so solutions are analyzed and explored to see where we can go from here.
