What is your favourite kind of tea?
Green.

Which assignment was the most fun to mark?
C2N because we are a part of the assignment/enveloped into it during marking. It's so interactive and exciting/fun to be a part of. This year was very different, but still incredibly enjoyable to see what the students could come up with.

Have you picked up any new hobbies during this period of social distancing?
Truthfully, I've had to practice mindful meditation a lot more than before, but we live in a house where 2 adults are working from home and also trying to manage and raise a 3yr old at the same time, so time for anything new is at a premium. And hence: mindful meditation.

Are you a cat or dog person? Explain your choice.
I've evolved into a dog person. I grew up with cats and so I was drawn to them solely because they were all I knew as pets. Then, about 10 yrs ago I got a dog and that changed. But, I've evolved even further: it's unfortunate, but since I became a father, I've had little time for the dog. If it were up to me (and it isn't) we'd have NO PETS! What a horrible story...

What is the best song of all time? Explain your choice.

You're asking a guy who studies the history of music and finds beauty in almost any genre. Wow. I could write a Thesis Paper on this question. Do I go with the best song for everyone, or the best song for me? Hmmm... off the top of my head I'm trying to pick from two of my favorite bands: something by Pavement, or a song by Sloan? I'm sure I could list my top 50 and have fine reasons for all, but I'm drawn to say, "Deeper Than Beauty" by Sloan. Top-notch lyrics, a driving drum beat that marries itself perfectly to poppy-guitar-riff that seems to run all over the place. Simple and beautiful.

Why do you keep coming back to teach Global?
There are many great aspects to teaching: running clubs, coaching, creating, working with the students as a whole, or one on one. I've experienced all of those in one way or another and Global, at the end of the day, offers a little bit of all of them. AND - we get to travel with the students and get to know them on deeper levels as we do. Even though Global is A LOT of extra work, I won't give it up until I have to.

If you could give one piece of advice to the Global class of 2020, what would it be?

Things will get better in this world at some point, and when you feel a bit freer, like the shackles have fallen off, run. Run as fast as you can, leap as high as you can leap, and sing at the top of your lungs. Don't look back until it's time.
